Beauty & Wellness
Beauty and wellness isn’t just about looking good — more importantly it’s about feeling good.
As a girlie girl, I was always focused on taking care of myself physically since childhood, especially when it came to finding the best products for my skin or going to get my hair done and getting all dolled up no matter what the occasion was. But as I got older, prioritizing my health and wellness became super important for my wellbeing.
Let me give you some of my background to show how relatable my experience might be to yours. I wasn’t always into fitness; in fact, a lot of my friends could probably say I hated working out. Even as early as middle school, I was probably the only one in my friend group who abhorred running that damn timed mile. And don’t get me started on joining the track team (awful memories).
And sure, I joined the Army when I was 17 and somehow managed to get through bootcamp — although I came out of the experience more with an eating disorder than a healthy fitness routine (because they would literally make us run after eating which often led to throwing up, so I often didn’t eat at all; not to mention being constantly weighed and hearing other girls get called fat and shamed from eating). And then even in college during Army ROTC workouts, we often only did cardio, so I literally never had picked up a weight in my entire life.
Fast forward to going to lieutenant training in 2020, meeting and falling in love with my gym-obsessed, health-nut boyfriend, and him teaching me the importance of lifting weights and eating properly…
That’s when I ended up joining Orangetheory Fitness, where I learned how to diversity my workout routine and actually not hate working out for once in my life. And that’s also around the time that I started to prioritize healthy eating and getting rid of my bad habits of starving myself to lose weight (particularly before upcoming beach trips like I did every Spring Break in college).
Today, my overall health and wellness is a big part of my everyday routine. After all, it’s all about making choices: choosing healthier options, but keeping that balance in your life to enjoy even the unhealthy options at times (just in moderation). And beauty is as important as ever to me still — and often the fun part since I love exploring new, trendy routines and products.
But enough said, if you’re looking for both timeless arts & new trends for feeling great, looking great, and overall improving your health, jump into the blog and see what methods and products I’ve added to my routine over the years.
