Hey, girl!
First off, let me lead by saying that I know kitten heels typically get a bad rap. But hear me out – the ones I’m going to talk about are not the same kitten heels you’ve probably heard your nana rant about still being in style. Or maybe that’s just mine…who by the way is a total fashionista – love you Nana! I have come to love kitten heels, and they have honestly saved my life (and my feet). Don’t get me wrong, I have the super high heels too, but kitten heels, which are 2-inches or less, are my go-to everyday high heels. And oftentimes, they are ones I opt for in special occasions when I just don’t feel like suffering!
I typically get my kitten heels (and all my shoes) from JustFab & ShoeDazzle, which I highly recommend by the way. You can skip each month and not be charged $39.95, and also they have major sales, like all the time. I’ve gotten multiple quality pairs of cute shoes for as low as $10 during some of their sales.
Practical, yet Sexy.
The key to a stylish kitten heel, or everyday high heels, is finding ones that look the same as the 6-inch heels with their only difference being the heel size! My favorite kitten heel, for example, is the strappy and stiletto look because it’s classic, simple, and sexy. And you can get all those factors with the additional benefit of comfort. When it comes to the kitten heel, I like to think Marcie Montevega would also be a huge fan of these because of how stylish and practical these everyday high heels are. On the other hand, her twin Madisyn would never be caught in a kitten heel because they’re just not dramatic enough. My readers know she’s either in a luxury brand sneak or a 6-inch heel – there simply is no in-between or practicality for Madisyn. (Read more on my fictional twin characters from my novel Genesis Mortalis, Book 1 of the Take It Trilogy.)
What’s So Great About Kitten Heels, anyway?
Kitten heels are awesome for tall women especially who don’t want to necessarily square up with their already over 6-feet-tall boyfriend (LOL, sorry Aidan!) I won’t pretend to be one of those women who isn’t bothered being the same height as their man. I’ve dated plenty of guys my height (5’9 by the way) or just a tad bit shorter before. But there really is something about being shorter than my boyfriend that makes me feel super feminine and protected (sorry, not sorry, to my extreme feminists, but that’s my opinion!)
The other cool factor about kitten heels is how versatile they can be! You can dress them up and wear them with fancier outfits and dresses, and you can also dress them down and wear them with jeans for a classier casual look. AND – get this – I can even walk in them all day without stumbling or my feet hurting! Score.
The Best Everyday High Heel Brands
The Open-Toe Stiletto Kitten Heel
Like I said though, not all kitten heels are the same. My go-to open-toe kitten heel is called the Gala Minimalist Kitten Heeled Sandal from JustFab, which has the cutest gold stiletto heel! I have these in both black and beige so that I can wear them all-year round with various outfits. Yep, I wear them even in the Seattle winter when it’s just a little bit rainy and not too cold. Unfortunately, these shoes are only sold in season on their website. Use the photos to find similar styles at a different store if you’re reading this in the winter (I can’t promise they’ll be as comfortable though!)
The Open-Toe Chunky-Heeled Kitten Heel

My favorite chunky-heeled kitten heel is the Sanoura Heeled Sandal from JustFab. I have these in both black and blush. These sandals are also only sold in season on the site. I don’t wear this pair as much because I’m not a huge fan of the chunky heel look and they’re not as comfortable. But this style is another option to mix it up and not wear out my stiletto kitten heels.
The Closed-Toe Stiletto Kitten Heel
My favorite closed-toe kitten heel is the Nine West Kitten Heel Sling Backs in Blush Patent Leather from Poshmark. These are my everyday high heels typically for work or business events. For some reason, I cannot seem to find these anywhere anymore online!! So good luck finding this same shoe but use the style for reference. Note: When buying a slingback, it is so important to get the style where the slingback part is not connected to the front heel of the shoe as shown below. The traditional slingback where the back strap is attached to the front is just disgusting in my opinion and looks “old.” Don’t look old – stick with the sexier cut slingback for a more modern stylish look.
Overall, kitten heels will be your best friend and become your everyday high heels if you choose them right. Find the style that works for you and you’ll be ready to hit the town or the red carpet! Fun fact: I actually wore my beige stiletto kitten heels at a red carpet event in L.A. It was a book launch party hosted by my author mentor, bestselling author and TV Speaker Anna David and even had a few Hollywood names stop by! So, get your glam on by getting a pair of kitten heels and everyday high heels you can rock for any event, big or small.
P.S. Don’t be afraid to slip some inserts into those heels, which can help break in a new pair without the pain — highly recommend for the taller stilettos.
Sincerely,
